Retaining Wall
Taupiri is new up-and-coming area for residential subdivision, as it is located between Kirikiriroa and Huntly.
At this project site, HD Geo worked closely with other parties to design two retaining walls, proposed to run along the edge of a wetland within the subdivision.
The retaining wall comes up to be 4.1m high, and 65m long. They were built with construction constraints around the wetland area, and the design needed to carefully consider constructability. We mitigated slope stability and liquefaction risks by using a crib wall, supported by 6.0 m deep driven timber piles.
The design needed to involve a solution to best fit its purpose while using source materials that match the environment.
