The Project

The Mainstream warehouse at Te Rapa Gateway is a 2,400m² facility, including 154m² of single-level office space, designed to meet the operational needs of Mainstream Freight Group. Located in Hamilton's industrial hub, the project was delivered in collaboration with CLC Consulting Group, Foster Construction, Camex Civil and Pinnacles Civil.

Our Role

Our involvement in this project built on our extensive experience in the Te Rapa Gateway area, where we have supported the development of surrounding industrial subdivisions and multiple warehouses. For this project, our work included:

  • Site Investigation

    • Conducted investigations, including hand auger, DCP and CPT testing, to develop a foundation and pavement design tailored to the site’s variable soil conditions.

  • Geotechnical assessment and reporting

    • Geotechnical assessments for settlement, bearing capacity, and liquefaction to ensure these geotechnical hazards risks were well understood and managed for the project. We provided ground data inputs for to the structural and civil engineers foundation and pavement design.

    • Providing geotechnical recommendations to support building consent that informed construction methodologies, ensuring efficient and effective site preparation and development.

  • Subgrade and Backfill Testing

    • Ensured subgrade and backfill materials met a bearing capacity of 300 kPa, providing a stable foundation for the warehouse and office structures.

  • Project team collaboration

    • Partnered with the project team to maintain clear communication and ensure that the foundation and pavement designs supported the building needs

The Results

The completed warehouse and office building provide a robust and functional space for Mainstream Freight Group's operations. The geotechnical works played a key role in ensuring the site was well-prepared, with the foundations designed to address the site's unique ground conditions. The collaboration with the wider project team helped ensure the successful delivery of this high-quality facility.
